The Moon God's Penance

Chandra, the Moon God, was cursed to lose his radiant glow because he favored only one of his twenty-seven wives. Desperate and fading, he performed severe penance at Prabhas Patan, where Lord Shiva partially lifted the curse, resulting in the natural waxing and waning of the moon.

The Hump of the Divine Bull

After the devastating Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva to cleanse their sins of killing their own kin. Shiva, unwilling to forgive them easily, disguised himself as a bull, and when Bhima tried to capture him, the bull sank into the ground leaving only its hump behind to be worshipped.
